Job Description

About the role:

Our community pharmacies play a key part in caring for the health and wellbeing of our customers. As the largest Co-operative Pharmacy group, our pharmacies offer so much more than just exceptional customer service! From prescriptions and flu vaccines to podiatry, we’re passionate about looking after the health needs of our patients.

As a Pharmacy Services Assistant, you’ll be joining an enthusiastic and hardworking team of colleagues that work together to make a positive difference to the lives of their patients. From working the counter to keeping the shelves stocked and ready for customers, there is a wide range of duties for you to be involved in, such as:

  • Delivering exceptional customer service, providing health advice and services to our patients through engaging conversations. Ensuring that every customer leaves the pharmacy feeling informed and confident about their healthcare needs
  • Keeping the shop floor fully stocked and ready for customers through accepting and working deliveries and completing stock takes
  • Delivering the technical aspects of the dispensary, allowing and ensuring the safe supply of medicines. This could be through ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, and supporting the collection of prescriptions
  • Assisting with sales and general store duties including creating product displays and cash transactions.

About You

It isn’t just about experience or knowledge; we’re looking for people with a genuine passion for customer service and who will be ambassadors for healthcare in our pharmacies. To be successful in joining our team, you’ll need to show us:

  • A natural ability to build meaningful relationships with both patients and colleagues
  • An upbeat, caring, and confident manner when serving and advising patients
  • An enthusiasm and talent for problem solving, eager to take on new challenges and experiences
  • A methodical and accurate approach to practical tasks, using your own initiative and teamwork skills to aid you
  • Experience of working in a retail background and using a stock control system would be desirable but not essential as full training is provided

For this role, we’re happy to consider either a Pharmacy Services Assistant or a Trainee Pharmacy Services Assistant joining the team. So, whether you’re looking to start a career in pharmacy and work with us towards a Level 2 Pharmacy Services Assistant qualification or are already qualified and looking to keep progressing, we want to hear from you!

Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your Pharmacy career and make a difference to the lives of our communities. In addition to working for a growing co-operative business, we offer our colleagues fantastic benefits, including:

  • Up to 30 days annual leave (pro-rata, including bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme (with up to 12% employer contributions)
  • Generous colleague discount rates across our family of businesses
  • Annual discretionary colleague bonuses to reward you for your hard work
  • Free tea and coffee provisions for all colleagues during rest breaks at work
  • Wellbeing initiatives and community engagement opportunities

We are an “Investors in People - Platinum” employer, meaning that we have been recognised as one of the country’s top employers, offering progression opportunities to all our colleagues. As your experience grows, you’ll have the opportunity to build the skills necessary to further progress your career and help to open up future opportunities. We’ll work together with you to shape your career for the better!
